Texas Fires Spread Throughout Panhandle

Of the11 found dead as a result of the fires raging throughout the Texan panhandle, 1,900 more have been forced to evacuate their homes and businesses. The fatality rate may not yet be at a standstill. Four oil workers were found burnt to death while making a last ditch effort to quite literally, run for their lives. More than 1,000 square miles have been burnt to a cinder in the northern areas of Texas. With 350 firefighters on the job, and 25 aircraft dropping thousands upon thousands of fire retardant on the land mass...it seems that Mother Nature just will not give Texans a break.

What the average American sees is a tremendous loss of life, land and wild life, and millions of dollars in repair and recovery costs. It is the semi-long term impact this will eventually take on our nation. As we have seen time and time again in the past, when the forces of nature decide to strike, it's anyone's guess as to what will lay in ruin through the aftermath of such ordeals and trauma. One thing is certain however, Americans will once again be called upon to pull together as a whole nation to aide and supply their fellow countrymen with whatever they can muster up.

After Katrina, and the recent tornadoes...floods, raging winds, ice and snow storms... cleaning up after Mother Nature is second hand to Americans. But will they ever put as much faith in their elected politicians to also roll up their sleeves and dig in to help? Maybe... but then again, maybe not.
