Russians, Georgians and South Ossetians. Oh my!

There comes a time when all people have to put their foot down and tell their own government that enough is enough and to stop trying to beat the crap out of everyone just because you've got a lot of bombs and a government with the intelligence level of a cat box. In this case, that would apply to the United States. I live here. I can say this.

The people of the U. S. would be far better off if someone just sent a crap load of coloring books and crayons to the White House. Just to keep Mr. Bush occupied until he has to leave office. For that matter, just send everyone at the White House a truck load of supplies from Toys R Us. That ought to hold them until at least January 1, 2009.

Now if I'm understanding the situation in Russia, Georgia and South Ossetia the way that the U. S. media is telling the story, something isn't right in Disney Land. Think about this:
Years ago, Georgia broke away from Russia and became an Independent State, then allied with the United States, became part of the United Nations and has since been trying to become part of NATO. Years after that, South Ossetia broke away from Georgia, became an Independent State and allied with Russia.
Now, South Ossetia is accusing Georgia of genocide, and asked their Russian allies for help in getting the Georgians to leave them alone. Russia steps in and decides, 'Hey, while we're at it, we'll just take Georgia back for ourselves. After all, it once belonged to us anyway'.
Georgia had few places to turn to for help, so they attempted to enlist the aide of their largest ally, The United States of America. The USA said no, so the Georgians then turned to the Chinese for help. The Chinese government told the Georgian government, just as the United States did, that military aide would not be given, but if the Georgians wish to resolve this matter through diplomatic dialog, then the Chinese would help mediate this.
Then, it's announced that Russia declared a 14 day war against Georgia, shot down a Georgian UAV over Georgian territory, and the US had 'harsh words' for the Russians. The Russians ceased fire on the Georgians, and are now in diplomatic talks with the Georgians and South Ossetians. On top of all this, the US is now talking about possible sanctions against the Russian government for going after the Georgians, to help their allies, the South Ossetians, which is exactly the very same thing the United States did years back when they went to help people in Kosovo.

Is it just me, or is anyone else completely confused? First of all, why on earth is the United States involved in this at all, much less thinking about issuing sanctions against a nation they are not in conflict or war with?

Second, why is everyone upset about a Russian MIG-25 blowing a Georgian UAV out of the sky during war time? It's war. The aircraft was unmanned. Who cares? No one got hurt. No one got killed. It was an unmanned recon unit on patrol gathering information and data for the computer systems that the Georgians already have about their own territory. What's the problem? Furthermore, why it is anyone else's problem?

The U. S. needs to stop putting its hand in every cookie jar and start concentrating on the current issues at hand within their own nation. Other nations can handle their own problems, they do not need the United States to handle things for them. This is why there are other nations in the first place. And for god sakes, would someone please give Bush a drool bib?
